Welcome to the homepage of the MDG (Methodist Drama Group) Players, an amateur dramatics group based at the Methodist Church in Chandler's Ford, Hampshire.
Our group has been in existence for over 50 years, and we celebrated our golden anniversary in 2013 with a premier of a play and a celebration dinner for members past and present. More info on our News page and see our Gallery for photos from some of our productions.
We aim to present 2 plays every year, one in March or April and one in November. Some of our members are also involved in drama in the church throughout the year.
Read more on our News page about our most recent plays and productions.
Our purpose built stage is located in the church hall, and we can seat up to 170 people in our audience. The set is designed and built by our members, and we pride ourselves on the high quality of our productions. Our members work on lighting, sound, costumes, props, refreshments, front of house, directing, stage management and of course, acting!
We are keen to welcome new members to our group, to enable us to grow and flourish for another 50 years!
Please contact us to ask any questions.
We endeavour to give away the majority of our profits to local, national and international charities. One of our aims is to support charities that have a connection to the group and it's members, and recent recipients have been the Alzheimer's Society, BASICS Hampshire Doctors, British Red Cross, C.I.C.R.A (Crohn's Disease in Children), Chandler's Ford Good Neighbours, Christian Aid, D.E.C Bangladesh Appeal, Gift of Sight, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, Kenya Projects UK, Keysoc, Lexie's Voice, MacMillan Cancer, N.C.H, Naomi House, Samaritans, Smile4Rich (Wessex Neurological Unit), St James Night Shelter, St John's Ambulance, The Stroke Association, Tools for Self Reliance and the Watermill Theatre Appeal.
